After more than two decades of marriage, Nick Offerman’s relationship with Megan Mullally is stronger than ever — and it all comes down to laughter.

In an exclusive interview with Us WeeklyOfferman, 54, opened up about how he and Mullally, 66, have managed to stay rock solid since exchanging vows in 2003. “There are a few things — listening and swallowing one’s ego is probably right at the top of the list,” the Parks and Recreation alum shared while promoting his Pringles partnership. “And having a sense of humor.”

“We’ve been together for about 25 years and the key is we always make each other laugh,” Offerman continued. “At the moment, especially living in Los Angeles, life is very bleak, surrounded by tragedy and heavy things (amid the wildfire destruction), and we have to be able to take things lightly and carry each other through the hard times.”

In addition to being longtime loves, Offerman and Mullally are known to mix business with pleasure. The couple — who met in 2000 while starring in The Berlin Circle — have appeared together in Stealing Harvard, Smashed, The Kings of Summer, Hotel Transylvania and Infinity Baby. The couple also co-wrote The Greatest Story Ever Told and embarked on a joint comedy tour, Summer of 69: No Apostrophe, in 2017.

Offerman has previously talked about joining forces with his wife in their respective careers. “She’s often been a hero to me, and so getting to work with her as a peer in any way is like — I feel like Luke Skywalker getting to go into (a) lightsaber battle standing next to Obi-Wan Kenobi,” he told HuffPost in 2013. “I’m like, ‘Alright, me and you. Let’s take ‘em on.’”

The pair have also made cameos in each other’s projects: Offerman appeared on Will & Grace and Mullally played Ron Swanson’s ex-wife, Tammy 2, in Parks and Recreation.

In 2024, Mullally dished on filming a scene in the sitcom that featured their characters “wildly making out on a table” in a diner. “Nick, at one point, was so — Ron Swanson is so riled up on testosterone — that we were in a booth at this diner and he pulled the table out of the wall,” Mullally shared on the “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast. “The real table. He pulled it out of the wall!”

Offerman’s recent career milestones include earning an Emmy in 2024 for his role as Bill in The Last of Us, starring in Pringles’ Super Bowl campaign “Call of the Mustaches” and serving as the announcer at the 2025 Oscars — but what makes him most proud is providing for his family.

“My mom and dad are salt of the earth, and I aspire to live like them,” he told Us. “So to see my wife and my family made comfortable through my actions — whether it’s (by) paying the bills or doing the dishes — that makes me happy.”
