How Love Is Blind’s Sara Realized She and Ben Were ‘Incompatible’

Love Is Blind exes Sara Carton and I Mezzenga’s breakup saga is getting messier and messier.

Days after Ben, 28, released receipts of the former couple’s final text messages, Sara, 29, clarified her side of the conversation.

“We didn’t talk for a month and a half after this (exchange), and throughout that time, I was hearing multiple things about Ben … and it just purely made me question his intentions and if he truly loved me or it was all for show,” Sara claimed in a Saturday, March 15, Tiktok video. “The next time I heard from him was when he reached out telling me about the advice that he received to be on good terms with me and practice reunion questions.”

She added, “That just completely validated my thoughts. It is clear that Ben and I were incompatible and I realized that I was giving him the benefit of the doubt a lot and I was willing to listen, I was ignoring the negatives and focusing just on the positive.”

According to Sara, she has also since learned “about how I love” and plans to take that knowledge into her next relationship.

“Watching back I feel bad for the Sara in the experiment, because she wanted to stand on her values and she didn’t,” the Netflix star mused. “She had concerns that she wanted to address and didn’t. She also, just ultimately, was protecting her partner more so than herself.”

Sara and Ben connected inside the Love Is Blind pods when season 8 arrived in Minneapolis, which began airing on Netflix last month. After getting engaged sight unseen, the pair’s romance was tested over their differing values. Sara ultimately called off their wedding plans at the altar when their differences outweighed any positives or feelings of love.

During the March 9 reunion, Sara also confirmed that she and Ben tried to date after the show wrapped production in spring 2024. Sara claimed that Ben was even planning to join her for the remainder of her travel nursing contract in Nashville — until he ghosted her the day before she drove down from Minnesota to Tennessee. He denied the accusations.

“I reached out to (Sara and she) ghosted me,” he claimed in a Wednesday, March 12, social media video. “I reached out the Saturday that she moved to Nashville when I took her off ‘Find My Friends’ (and) apologizing for doing that, as well as the next day because I knew she was still upset.”

In Ben’s screenshots, he alleged that Sara had stopped responding to his multiple attempts to apologize. Sara, meanwhile, in her proof-filled account, thought that all the messages were “normal” until he stopped sharing his location.

“It just completely caught me off-guard,” she said on Saturday. “There was no inclination prior to the conversation of any changes. We didn’t have any phone calls — it was just these text messages throughout the day. I was really confused and that’s when I started to feel a little duped.”

According to Sara, they could have had a conversation about the miscommunication but it just never took place. The apparent distance and silence made Sara think that Ben “never” intended to join her in Nashville — a claim he has yet to address.
